a local fisherman outrigger (at your own risk, it is quite unstable)Big

Several hotels can offer you to use their swimming pool (temporary membership card) :
Two downtown : Le Grand Hotel and near the harbour at Allamanda Hotel, one outside Diego in front of the sugarloaf at LA NOTE BLEUE, one at Hotel LE VILLAGE, another one at Hotel Panorama, on the way to Ramena.
Two nice small swimming pool at MEVA Hotel and LES COCOTIERS on the front and the last one at RAMENA by the CASE EN FALAFA.
CRUISE on The BAY :
Only one company , fully insured with modern fiberglass boats and reliable engine can offer you day charter to MER D’EMERAUDE : BLUE NOTE VOYAGES, with a pier at only 3 km from Downtown Diego.
Most of the hotels or travelagencies are working with ramena wood fishing boats, not insured, not registered and most of them have not life jacket, so be careful as Diego Bay is very windy from May till December, most of the time using local boats, you come back water soaked at your hotel.

To rent a car in Madagascar is much more expensive as anywhere else due to the bad conditions of most of the roads. Usually most of the car are rent with a driver ; we advise you to do so : don’t forget your driver will also be a guide and can repair most of the breakdowns, he is also a good help for any policy request…
If you rent a motorbike do wear helmets, drive slowly, the taxidrivers are really unpredictables : you will soon notice that they are not driving their cars, but it their cars which are driving them, like boats without sailor.
Taxis are yellow painted 4 L(for Luxe) Renault, try to avoid them !
